Product information "The Next 60 Years Porsche 911 Design Project"
Nobody suspects that the most demanding design task is the actualization of perfection.
It is not time that influences the design of the 911, rather the designer Ferdinand Alexander Porsche shaped the style of his time with his work 60 years ago and designed a model that was to become the epitome of automotive dynamics. With a roof section sloping down to the rear and the degressive shoulder line, the exterior survived the wedge shape unscathed. A supposedly progressive era, which, with the reversed directionality since the early 1970s, was to advance to a design dictate for progressive automotive design over many decades. However, it was not the wedge shape that influenced the 911; conversely, its design continuity ultimately gave the impetus for the renaissance of the streamline in current and future automobile design.
This book shows the derivation of the typical Porsche design language since the brand was founded, a scientific analysis of the design process of the original 911 and an outlook on how future vehicle generations could embody the unique design treasure of the legendary sports car icon.
In cooperation with the Porsche Design department, under the direction of Prof. Dr. Othmar Wickenheiser, up-and-coming talent in transportation design from the Munich University of Applied Sciences, presented impressive visions for the next 60 years of the Porsche 911.
